Systems of Desire
Beatrix Zobl and Wolfgang Schneider presented a selection of their work in Chicago: videoloops, photographs and texts. They organized this visual and reflective installation in five stations: “Representation” (see picture above), “Business”, “Education”, “Aesthetics”, “Authority”.
During the Opening they did the performative talk EXTRAWURST: Since this exhibition was a part of the cycle “Punkt.AT” [dot.at], Zobl and Schneider prepared a typical Austrian late night menue: cold sliced sausage with onions, oil and vinegar. The name “Extrawurst” describes the sausage itself but at the same time it is a metaphor for always wanting something different, for demanding a special exception. Strangely enough “Extrawurst” is the most common sausage in Austria. In a performative talk some thoughts about the role of artists as travellers and about national stereotypes were reflected.
