Media Project, museum in progress in the daily newspaper "Der Standard"
and Soho in Ottakring, 2002
Soho in Ottakring is an art project focussing on social and political processes. It takes place anually in Vienna Ottakring (which is a district with a high immigrant population, high unemployment rate and social problems) with a participation of up to 200 artist. In this context we interviewed participants about their images of the artist. For the daily newspaper Der Standard and in cooperation with the museum in progress we produced five inserts. These inserts had the aim of holding up examples of changed occupational practices and working techniques against the popular imaginations and images of the artist. In this way we presented to a broad public the way contemporary artists are working and the methods and specific techniques they use to realise their ideas.
